Star Trek through the lens of management
Star Trek: Outposts Unknown is scheduled for October 20 and takes a different approach from the franchise’s more action-focused games. This one is an outpost builder centered on research, construction, resources and crew assignments.
The game is set in the 23rd century around the era of Strange New Worlds, but the story itself is original. Players build across strange worlds in the X’Lehari System while responding to a larger threat facing a new civilization.
What the simulator side looks like
- Research facilities and building trees shape how each outpost develops.
- Crew members can be assigned to tasks and developed as officers.
- Resource management and construction sit alongside narrative decisions.
- Real-time-with-pause systems suggest a more strategic pace than a hands-on job sim.
This is not the same kind of simulator as running a shop, but it still fits the management side of the audience: build a system, assign people, solve shortages and watch the operation grow.
Launch note
Steam currently lists Star Trek: Outposts Unknown for October 20. ItsZebraTV has not reviewed it; this article is a short pre-launch orientation to the management systems being advertised.
