10 Things I Wish I Knew Before Playing Bookshop Simulator

Bookshop Simulator looks like the kind of game where I should immediately buy more shelves, open another location and add a café because all of those things sound cozy. The lesson I kept learning was that every cozy new feature is also another job.

1. Fewer full shelves beat a giant empty catalog

I would rather keep a smaller selection consistently stocked than build a beautiful store where half the shelves are empty.

2. Restocking problems are a warning not to expand

If I am constantly running out of stock or cash, another location is not going to make that problem smaller.

3. Managers need a real setup

A manager and manager desk are what let an older location keep operating while I move elsewhere. I would set that up before treating the store as passive.

4. Passive income is not gross revenue

The managed store still has costs. I stopped expecting the passive number to match every sale I remembered making myself.

5. Passive income updating through the day makes it easier to read

The game now surfaces that income during the day instead of making it feel like one mystery end-of-day lump. That made the managed-location loop easier for me to understand.

6. A manager preserves the store I built

I would not hand over a weak location and expect management to magically turn it profitable. I stabilize the shop first.

7. A new location should stack on top of a working one

Expansion feels much better when I am adding another business instead of abandoning one mess to create another.

8. The café is basically a second business inside the first

Coffee sounds harmless until it brings more furniture, stock and another workflow. I add it after the bookstore side is comfortable.

9. Layout matters more once I add the café

The newer snapping improvements help, but I still leave enough room for customers and staff to move cleanly.

10. I have more fun when I stop opening three problems at once

My rule is simple: stock first, management second, expansion third, fancy additions after the store can afford them.
